

PALM BEACH GARDENS – Joseph D. Protting, 84, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, July 9, 2022. He was born on February 10, 1938 in Cincinnati, OH, the son of the late Harry Protting and May Bressler. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Janice C. Protting to whom he was married for 28 years and the beloved mother of four children; Susan (Gregg) Ravn, Sharon Morabito, Joseph G. Protting and Patrick Protting. He had one sister Harryette Feige, grandson Mark, nephews Steve and Kevin along with nieces Karen, Candy and Melissa.
He attended Catholic elementary schools and Norwood High School and shortly after graduating, he stared his professional career with Western-Southern Life Insurance Company in Cincinnati. In 1973, he and his wife and four children relocated to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
He remarried in 1992 and is survived by his beloved second wife of 29 years, Norma (Cote) Protting of Madawaska, Maine.
Joseph always had an interest in home building so after retiring from Western-Southern Life after 30 years in the life insurance industry, in 1994 he went into the construction business as a home builder putting up speculative houses in Palm Beach County and Highland County which he enjoyed doing for the next 10+ years until retirement. He had a passion for travel, sports and playing cards.
Please join the family for funeral services on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 with visitation 10:00AM-12:00 Noon at the Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral and Event Center, 754 US Highway 1, North Palm Beach, FL 33408. Graveside services will follow at 2:00PM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, 10941 Southern Blvd., Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411.
