

Peg was born in Gary, Indiana on January 2, 1944 to J. Francis and Veronica Conroy Higgins. She went to St. Mary’s of the Lake and graduated from William A Wirt High School in Miller in 1962. She attended St. Mary of the Woods College in Terra Haute and graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1966. Peg’s career was in Elementary Education and she excelled as a Remedial Reading Specialist with two Masters Degrees from the University of Illinois. She taught school in the Chicago area for over thirty years, the majority of which was at The Academy of the Sacred Heart and Hardy Prep on Sheridan Road. Peg retired from teaching and moved to Old Port Cove fifteen years ago to live with her father. She enjoyed South Florida immensely, and particularly enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Patrick’s in Palm Beach Gardens. Peg was a vibrant woman with strong loyalties and strong opinions who loved unconditionally. She will be missed by all lucky enough to have known her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, James. She is survived by another brother, Jay (Gail), several nieces and nephews and a grand nephew: Maura Semmes (Gib) and a son, John; Kerry Higgins, Erin Higgins, Conor Higgins (Anna); Cassy Cindric (Dom); and Jack Higgins
Visitation at Howard-Quattlebaum, Tuesday, March 21, 2017, 5 to 7 pm. Prayer service: 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of Palm Beach County. Interment will be at a family plot in Indiana on a date to be determined.
