Maria Lombardi Kabitzke

Maria Lombardi was born in the small Italian village of Bisacciia on April 14, 1946. She came to America with her mother, three sisters and two brothers when she was only five years old. They all came to America to join their father who lived in Tarrytown, NY and worked for General Motors and the Phelps Memorial Hospital.

After graduating from high school, Maria had a career in modeling and acquired her degree in cosmetics. In 1961, she had her son James Detlefs from her first marriage.

In 1986 Maria met Ron and shortly after they were married. Maria and Ron had two sons and a daughter from previous marriages and shared five beautiful grandchildren.

After Ron’s retirement from the painting industry in New York, they settled here in North Palm Beach, Florida. Maria was very proud of her Italian heritage and was a member of the Italian cultural society, IL Circolo, and was involved with many Italian social groups. Her creativity, excellent sewing and crafting skills always kept her busy working on projects or making gifts for friends and family.

Maria and Ron made many lasting friendships here in Florida. They enjoyed gracefully whisking each other away on the ballroom dance floor and traveling the world from country to country. Maria always lived life to the fullest and encouraged all who she met to do the same.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral and Event Center, 754 US Highway 1, North Palm Beach, FL 33408. A Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 pm in the funeral home.
