Marietta “Del” Portzer
Marietta Portzer, 100, of North Palm Beach, Florida, passed away at her home August 24, 2020 and was laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted, Ohio on September 2, 2020.
She was born in Berea, Ohio on September 11, 1919 to Antonio and Rose DelCorso.
Marietta graduated from Western Reserve University in 1945 and began a career in medicine. She worked as a Nurse Anesthetist at the Cleveland Clinic and was instrumental in creating the Cleveland Clinic School of Nurse Anesthesia and held the position of Educational Director.
She married the love of her life, Loyd Portzer in 1953.
Marietta relocated to North Palm Beach, Florida in 1973 where she continued her career in anesthesia until retiring from Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in 1998 at the age of 78.
She enjoyed traveling, hiking, cooking, baking and continuing education on a multitude of subjects but loved spending time with family and friends the most.
Marietta was a forward thinker always ahead of her time, highly intelligent, generous, courageous, industrious, loving and much more including an extreme patriot whose life epitomized the “Greatest Generation”.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Loyd and her seven siblings. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her family and many friends.
