

Mary Turano of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida passed away on June 23, 2026 at age 94. Mary was born in Staten Island, New York on May 30, 1932, to Florence and Michael Ferone. She was a graduate of Port Richmond High School in New York where she was awarded 2nd in the state for her excellence in the regent’s tests in secretarial skills. After graduation she worked in NYC with United Baltic Co. as a personal secretary to the owner. She was an advocate of education and worked for decades with special education students. In 1997 she retired from Pinelands Regional H.S in New Jersey.
Mary was married to her beloved husband, late Frank Turano Jr. for 43 years. She was one of eight children survived by her sisters Sue “Assunta” Giunti, Florence D’Alessio and brother Harry Ferone. She is also survived by her four loving children, Stephen & his wife Sue, David, Nancy and Carol. She was a proud grandmother to Andrew, Stephen, Frank, Jack, Leia and Fernando and great-grandmother to Caleb, Olivia, Noah and Leo. Mary is also survived by her close family friends Lisa Miller, Barbara Carocci and her many nieces and nephews.
Mary was known for her Italian cuisine and her love of baking and desserts. She enjoyed traveling to many countries with her friends and family. She was a caring mother who supported her children through successful careers and enjoyed the ballet, theatre, sports events, gardening, swimming, dancing and singing on occasion. Mary lived by the words of Frank Sinatra “I did it My Way”, and that she did. She will truly be missed and always remembered for her generosity, kindness and the difference she made in so many lives.
Memorial Services for Mary will be held in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in August 2026 and a Funeral and “Celebration of Life” to be held in Manahawkin, New Jersey in Fall 2026.
