Patricia Ann Collins (nee) Leonard, 76 of Palm Beach Gardens, passed away at her home January 24, 2019.
Pat was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 23, 1942, a daughter of Col. Hubert C. and Mary Ann Leonard.
Pat began her working career in Washington DC. in advertising. After 15 years, her concern for the aged poor led her to work with the Little Sisters of the Poor in Washington DC. Following her time with The Little Sisters of the Poor, Pat went to Capitol Hill to work as an aide for Congressman Robert Michel (Illinois) in the United States House of Representatives. Following her time in Congress, Pat worked at the United States Catholic Conference on their government affairs team. She relocated to Florida in 1995 where she met and married her husband Thomas Collins. Pat continued her service to the poor and needy in Florida through her work with the Catholic Diocese of Palm Beach and Lourdes Noreen McKeen Towers.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband Tom, her parents and brother Jay Leonard. She is survived by her sisters Joan Nodell and Mary J. Sparks as well as 11 nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola, 9999 N. Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 33410 Friday, February 15, 2019 at 10am in the Chapel. Inurnment will be held at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Florida.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests charitable donations to Food For The Poor 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek FL 33073.
