Richard was born in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from Homestead High School. He went on to attend and graduate from Ball State University, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Management Information Systems.
Richard built a distinguished career in the financial services industry and served as President and Partner at Certuity, a private wealth management firm. He played an important role in helping build Certuity into a nationally respected company. Over nearly three decades, he earned a reputation as a thoughtful leader and trusted advisor. Those who worked alongside him knew him as someone deeply committed to his profession—bringing focus, integrity, and high standards to everything he did. For Richard, his work was more than a career; it was a calling to which he devoted much of his time and care.
Richard enjoyed spending time on the golf course. Golf was one of the ways he relaxed and shared time with family, friends and colleagues.
He is survived by his parents, Susanne and Jeff Rattner of The Villages, FL; his brother, Grant Bursek, his sister-in-law, Lauren Block; and his niece, Amiya Block, Denver, CO. He is further survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Those who knew Richard will remember a man who approached life with purpose and who valued loyalty, discipline, and perseverance. His passing comes far too soon, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Those who loved him take comfort in the memories he leaves behind and in the lasting impact he made on the people in his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s memory may be made to the One Act of Giving Foundation, New Berlin WI, a charity to help veterans or Colorado Coalition for the Homeless.
