Richard Harry Gerlach “Dick.” It is with love and heartfelt sadness that we announce that Dick Gerlach, age 80, of North Palm Beach, Florida passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013. He was a United States Army veteran of The Korean War and was a graduate of The University of Minnesota where he was a member and President of the Phi Kappa Si Fraternity.

To honor and cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 54 years, Earlene Petrie Gerlach “Petee.” His legacy are his loving son and daughter, Peter Harry Gerlach II of North Palm Beach and Gretchen Anne Gerlach of Dallas, Texas.

Dick was a dear friend to many and always a faithful servant to the Lord. He was a committed volunteer for Cursillo, Jay Ministries, and Kairos Prison Ministries. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and The Thursday Men’s Prayer Breakfast at First Presbyterian Church. Dick and Petee split their time between their homes in Florida and in Ajijic, Mexico where he was involved with The San Juan Cosilla School for the Deaf and the local food pantry. He will always be remembered for his robust laughter, his contagious smile and his devotion to his friends and family.

Oh, Petee, I am so very sorry and know Dick will be sorely missed! The news triggered a whole series of memories, though, and they were good ones. The only comfort I can offer is that in Christ, you WILL see him again! May God keep that comfort alive in you!, Love,

We never had the pleasure of meeting your father but if he raised such a wonderful person he must have been special. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Gretchen spoke so often of her father and I feel the pain of the great loss for your family. Dick sounded like a gregarious soul that was admired by many. You have all our love, heartfelt sympathy and warm thoughts at this very difficult time. I only wish I could be there with you all to celebrate his life. May he rest in peace with the Lord.

It was said in Matthew 25:21, "Well done thy good a faithful servant: .... enter thou into the joy of thy lord."
Jesus was giving the parable of the talents, but this quote is such a good example of Dick's life. He loved the Lord and gave of himself to Him. Dick called everyone his brother or sister. His smile and laugh was contagious and his memory will always live in our hearts.
We pray that his beloved wife, Petee, precious children, Peter and Gretchen, will be given peace and comfort knowing their beloved husband and father is now at peace and is worshiping "the joy of his Lord."
