Richard Harry Gerlach “Dick.” It is with love and heartfelt sadness that we announce that Dick Gerlach, age 80, of North Palm Beach, Florida passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013. He was born October 19, 1932 to Jesse Boe and Peter Harry Gerlach in Rochester, Minnesota and has resided in North Palm Beach since 1964. He was a United States Army veteran of The Korean War and was a graduate of The University of Minnesota where he was a member and President of the Phi Kappa Si Fraternity.
To honor and cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 54 years, Earlene Petrie Gerlach “Petee.” His legacy are his loving son and daughter, Peter Harry Gerlach II of North Palm Beach and Gretchen Anne Gerlach of Dallas, Texas.
Dick was a dear friend to many and always a faithful servant to the Lord. He was a committed volunteer for Cursillo, Jay Ministries, and Kairos Prison Ministries. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and The Thursday Men’s Prayer Breakfast at First Presbyterian Church. Dick and Petee split their time between their homes in Florida and in Ajijic, Mexico where he was involved with The San Juan Cosilla School for the Deaf and the local food pantry. He will always be remembered for his robust laughter, his contagious smile and his devotion to his friends and family.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach, 717 Prosperity Farms Road, on Thursday, March 7th at 2:00 P.M. Walter “Lucky” Arnold, Senior Pastor, officiating with Rev. Steve Gibbons assisting. The family invites you to join them for a reception immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
