His cousins had the honor of knowing this unusually kind, cheerful, disciplined, faithful and holy soul.  Our loss is heaven's gain.

I first met Dick Kempel when I married Meg Schreiner in 1979.  I got to know Dick a year later after we bought our first house.  I was speaking with him at a family gathering and mentioned a drainage problem I was having with our side yard.  Dick told me what I had to do to solve the problem and offered to help.  Over the next couple of weeks, Dick came over to my house six or seven times.  He helped me dig a ditch, haul gravel and lay a foundation that cured my problem.  During those two weeks "Uncle" Dick laid another foundation.  The foundation of love and friendship with a new member of the family.  I knew and liked my wife's other uncles but Dick was the only one I felt comfortable calling Uncle.  That's the kind of man Uncle Dick was.   Our condolences to all the family and know that our prayers are with you.

My condolences on the passing of your wonderful father. I remember his great kindness from many years ago when I first stopped in at Adolph's for eyeglass repair.  From then on, I looked forward to subsequent visits to say hello and chat with him. It is hard to say "until we meet again" to another unique member of the Greatest Generation. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Kempel family.  I lived next door to Peg & Dick for about 10 years!  Great memories of both of them.  They both helped me raise my daughter! They both were positive Catholic role models for me.  What a true gentleman! I was very proud that Dick let me mow his lawn before they came home from Florida each season.  We often shared a mower!  Miss them both.

What a wonderful life your Mom & Dad shared; so many people remembering small moments of happy times just sitting on the porch.

My condolences to the Kempel family.  I grew up across the street from them in Cuyahoga Falls and have known them since I was in the 1st grade.  I'm now 43 and just live around the corner on Maitland.  My parents are still there though and I remember many days going over and sitting with Dick and Peg on their patio or swing talking with them. What a reunion it must be for the both of them right now.  You're in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Marg, Merrylou Hurt Windhorst and we shared our lives at the Elms. Such fond memories we had. I loved your parents and cherished the visits we shared. I still have the tiny folding scissors they gave me some 48 years ago! My sympathy to you and your family at the loss of your father. Dennis, Very sorry to hear about your Dad. I always enjoyed meeting up with your parents at Rohner functions.  Both of your parents were proud of their kids and enjoyed keeping me posted on everyones achievements.
