Robert David Anderson Age 81, of North Palm Beach, FL, passed away on Jan. 3rd, as a result of complications from MSA, a rare neurological disease. The son of Herbert and Laurette Anderson, Bob was born in Elizabeth, NJ, raised in Westfield, NJ, and lived in New York City before moving to Rumson, NJ. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara, their children; Karen Ouellette and her husband Stephen Ouellette of Rockport, MA, Libby Anderson and her husband Robert Watson of Westhampton, MA, and Dean Anderson and his wife Dana Walner Anderson of Chicago, IL, and seven grandchildren; Emma and Jamey Ouellette, Dillon and Kyle Watson, and Isabelle, Tatum, and Chase Anderson. He is also survived by a sister, Jean Augustine of Pennington, NJ, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Anderson received a post graduate degree from Hotchkiss School, graduated from Hamilton College, and received his MBA from the University of Michigan Business School. He began his career on Wall Street with Kidder Peabody, and in1956 joined Distributors Group, Inc., a mutual fund management company, as Vice President of Sales Management and a Director of the Company. He continued a lifelong interest in the mutual fund industry, co-founding Bull & Bear Group in 1974, which managed several funds and a discount brokerage firm. He remained Vice Chairman and Director of the company, now known as Winmill & Co. A former member of the National Association of Securities Dealers, Mr. Anderson served on a number of committees, including the District Business Conduct, Investment Company, and District 12 Committees. He was a past member of the Board of Governors of the Mutual Fund No Load Association and the Mutual Fund Education Alliance. Mr. Anderson was also a former President of the University of Michigan Club of NY, and managed their Scholarship Fund for over 25 years. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Rumson Country Club, Rumson, NJ, Seabright Beach Club, Seabright, NJ, Lost Tree Club, N. Palm Beach, FL, Tower Hill Presbyterian Church, Red Bank, NJ, and First Presbyterian Church, N. Palm Beach, FL. An avid golfer, he was Club Champion of the Rumson Country Club in 1972, enjoyed paddle tennis in the winter and was a tough competitor in both Bridge and Backgammon. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, a loyal friend and trusted advisor to many. His joy of life, wonderful sense of humor and generous love of family and friends will be deeply missed by all. Services will be held at the Lost Tree Chapel on Saturday, Jan. 8th at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to the Mayo Clinic Department of Neurology, 200 1st St. SW, Rochester, MN 55905. The family is planning a memorial service to be held in Rumson, NJ this summer.
