Bob was born on February 26, 1940, at Stanford Hospital in Pala Alto, California to Jack and Evelyn Broback. Bob graduated from the University of Southern California and went on to have a successful and rewarding career at the Department of Defense until his retirement in 1994. During that time, Bob enjoyed living in California, New Orleans, and south Florida, with the latter being where he chose to enjoy his later years with his wife Joan Broback.
Bob was a Corvette enthusiast to say the least and an avid sports fan, but his loyalties were to the San Francisco 49ers and the University of California, Berkeley Golden Bears. He enjoyed the good things life had to offer; loved watching football with family and friends, relished the coastal life, enjoyed traveling and experiencing different places, and spending time with his family. Bob would have been ecstatic to know that his beloved San Francisco 49ers beat the Dallas Cowboys on the day he passed, and would have been loyal to the end with their defeat the next weekend because that is how deep his devotion ran.
Bob was preceded in death by his daughter Vickie Powers and is survived by his loving wife Joan; sister Susan Kapana, son Michael Broback (Michelle), stepdaughters Sandra Megrue (Steve), Melinda Brault (Brandon), and Erika Stevens (Alvaro); grandchildren Madeline and Melanie Broback, Jarrid Powers, Justin Powers (Kendra), Joshua Powers (Jessica), Jessie Powers (Holly), Cory and Hayden Parks, Lincoln, Violet, and Tristan Brault; and his eight (8) great-grandchildren Jordan, Jason, Kaylee, Ellie, James, Juliette, Jak, and Vibeka, as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Services for Bob will be held at Howard Quattlebaum Funeral Home (754 US Highway 1, North Palm Beach, Florida) on February 26, 2023 between the hours of 12:00pm and 4:00pm. If you have a favorite game day jersey, please wear it as we celebrate Bob's birthday, his life, and his loves.
