Born in Bound Brook, New Jersey, Bob built a remarkable life on and above the water, dedicating more than 40 years to professional yacht captaining. He served one family throughout his maritime career with unwavering distinction, loyalty, and pride.
Bob’s expertise extended both on and beneath the waves. A true MacGyver-like yacht mechanic and captain, he was known for his meticulous care of every vessel entrusted to him and for the steady, confident hand he brought to the helm. Bob completed countless passages between Florida and the Bahamas. His deep knowledge of the islands and surrounding waters was unmatched.
An accomplished pilot as well, Bob regularly flew across those same turquoise stretches, connecting the islands and mainland with the same assurance he showed at sea. His dual mastery of aviation and maritime navigation made him a natural storyteller, and his tales of ocean crossings, island passages, and unexpected adventures became part of his legend.
A true waterman in every sense, Bob’s knowledge of the Bahamas and Florida waters, paired with his generosity of spirit, left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his sister, Laura Hoskin (Todd); his nephews Jared Hoskin and Jay Crockenberg; and his nieces Jenna Hoskin and Alyson Parks. He will be remembered for being the devoted chef at every holiday and vacation, always ready with a homemade meal that brought everyone together. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and Georgia, his loyal canine companion.
Fair winds and following seas, Captain.
