Better known as “Bob” or “Beanie” was a resident of Palm Beach Gardens and is survived by his wife Nancy, formerly of Falmouth, MA. Bob was the son of former Bourne selectman Philip T Sanford and his wife Dorothy both of whom predeceased Bob. He was born in Salem, MA and graduated from Bourne High School in 1959. Bob played trumpet for the Bourne Memorial Day services at the town hall for many years. He was a popular lifeguard for the town of Bourne and served honorably in the Marine Corp in the early 1960’s. He moved to Florida in 1971, where he lived until his death. He was the author of a book, A View From The Bar, about John D. MacArthur for whom Bob worked for many years. The book was very popular in South Florida and Bob loved promoting it via book signings. Bob was the eldest of 8 Sanford children and was a great storyteller, an avid fan of Frank Sinatra, and loved to work on his tan at the beach and walking on the Canal road. He is also survived by many siblings, nieces and nephews. After a long fight, Bob passed peacefully on March 17 with his beloved wife and Brothers Paul & Kevin by his side. His beloved wife Nancy of 40 years was a faithful and loving companion and will miss him greatly.
A private burial will be scheduled at a later date.
