

On October 1st, 2023, Rod Thatcher 83, of Jupiter, Florida passed away peacefully in his sleep after a 30 year battle with cancer. Rod was born on May 26th, 1940 to Dorothy and Stanley Thatcher in Jeromesville, Ohio.
After graduating from Fostoria High School in Fostoria, OH he went on to get his BA from Hiram College in Hiram, OH and then his MBA from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. It was at Hiram College that he met and fell in love with Diane Eloise Borah. They were married on August 31st, 1963 and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary just over a month ago. After graduating with a degree in business he went on to work for Exxon/Mobile for 34 years.
Rod was an avid golfer, fishman, and athlete. He played football at Hiram and was a coach for many of his 4 children’s variety of sports teams. He played softball well into his 70s. He was famously known for his breakfast sandwiches and pancakes, cheering on Florida State football and making friends with anyone he met. He was a very active member at Family Church Jupiter and in January 2022 was rebaptized there, inspiring others of his age to do the same.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Eloise Borah; his 4 children, Carrie (Jeff) West, Sandy Blaser, Debbie (Shaun) Fitzmorris and John (Joanna) Thatcher and his 10 grandchildren, Maggie and Meri Claire West, Logan Blaser, Hailey Blaser Wilde, Connor, Callie, Clay, and Carter Fitzmorris, Jack and James Thatcher, all who affectionately called him PawPaw.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 4:00pm at Family Church Jupiter, 18477 Loxahatchee River Road, Jupiter, FL 33458. A celebration of life will follow immediately afterwards at Riko's in Tequesta (560 US-1, Tequesta, FL 33469) from 5:00 to 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Family Church Jupiter, 18477 Loxahatchee River Road, Jupiter, FL 33458.
