Stephen Thomas Pack, 90, a long-time resident of North Palm Beach, FL, passed away in his home on January 8, 2018. His story began in Alden, Pennsylvania, on December 29, 1927, where he was born into a poor coal mining family to Stephan and Sophia Paczkowski.
He excelled in academics and athletics in an attempt to escape a life as a coal miner. He graduated from Newport High School, and went to Notre Dame on a football scholarship and then on to play for Temple University. He was drafted by the NFL Los Angeles Rams; however, the US Navy drafted him first, spending 4 years in post war reconstruction efforts around the world.
He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Marie Kasprzyk, of Glen Lyon, PA, in 1950. His accounting career then began with RCA Records in New York City. The Packs made their home in East Brunswick, NJ, and had four boys; Steven, Michael, Thomas, and Jeffery. He transferred to the newly created RCA computer division in Palm Beach Gardens, FL in 1966. When RCA shut the plant site down in the late 1970’s, Stephen went to work for Pratt & Whitney, and Sikorsky. He was a faithful member of St. Clare Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He made sure each of his kids went to college and was proud to have paid for it all. In retirement, he loved Juno Beach, weekend football, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Stephen is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Margaret. In addition, the four boys and associated grandchildren are: Steven and Sharon Pack of Sarasota, FL, Michael and Rosemary Pack of Orange Park, FL, Thomas and Cindy Pack of Boca Raton, FL (Zachary, Joshua, Austin, Stephanie), and Jeffery and Donna Pack of Nashville, TN (Cayce, Rocky.)
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the HOWARD-QUATTLEBAUM FUNERAL, CREMATION AND EVENT CENTER, 754 U.S. Highway 1, North Palm Beach, FL.
