It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father Edward on May 5, 2021. His wife of 64 years Christina passed away 5 months earlier and we are happy to know they are reunited once again. Edward leaves behind his children Mike (Lori) and Diane (Iain); his grandchildren Paul (Chelsea), Marc, David, Kate (Kyle), Joanne, John (Michelle); and his great grandchildren Vincent, Abby, Theo, Lucas and Liam.
He was the last surviving sibling of the Proskow family of which there were six. He was born in Poland to Alexandria and Joseph Proskow before coming to Canada when he was two years old. His family settled in Alberta where he grew up and lived until his early 20’s. He then moved to Vancouver where he met the love of his life Christina. They lived together with their two children in their East Vancouver home for 64 years.
Ed lived a wonderful life and will be missed greatly by his family and friends. A special thank you to his neighbors Irma, Mario, Nikolina, Andre, Luba, and Lana who were always there to lend a helping hand and a kind word. In his youth he loved spending time outdoors fishing and camping. In his retirement years he loved to garden, swim, and spend quality time at the Hastings race track and the Starship Bingo hall. He held a special place in his heart for his 1998 Green Cavalier in which he spoke fondly of and often.
He influenced many people and provided unconditional support and friendship to his A.A. community.
Although he suffered from dementia in his last few years, he always had a smile on his face when spending time with his family. He was a man of few words, but was kind and gentle and always looked out for his loved ones. He spent his last year at Brock Fahrni care home. We want to thank all of the staff and residents who welcomed him, made him feel at home, and provided him with care and love.
