Ron was a brilliant person: academic, scientist, vast store of knowledge (with amazing recall ability!), methodical, kind, generous, social ...and a superb cook. My partner Lloyd always said Ron should have been a doctor (MD -- he was already a PhD) because he understood every medical term and condition it seemed, and was good at explaining them in layman's terms. He must have been an excellent teacher at his work, and at UBC. He will be missed on many fronts. A great void where a great friend once stood.
