

Alexis (Lex) Dorothy Cawood (Moore), 77, of West Vancouver, B.C. died August 5, 2021, after a lengthy illness, at The Lion’s Gate Hospital. She was born June 6, 1944, in Trail, British Columbia, the seventh child of Alexander W. and Bennie (Smith) Moore. At the request of Alexis, no funeral will be held: a Celebration of Her Life will be held October 24, 2021, to be attended via Zoom. In addition to her parents, Alexis was predeceased by her sisters Marsha (Norford), and Cynthia (Nelson), as well as first husband Douglas Brawn.
Alexis graduated from Central High School, Calgary, Alberta, Class of 1962. After graduation she traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, and then spent a year in Jamaica. In her later years Alexis spent much time in Hawaii swimming off the shores of Maui. Well into her seventies she marveled at her own ability to swim one and a half miles a day in the wild Pacific Ocean.
Alexis graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (1981), and later attained a Teaching Certificate (1989). After completing university Alexis discovered her real passion, painting. She was a gifted artist; her work can be seen throughout the greater Vancouver area, as well as in other countries.
Alexis will be remembered for her intuitiveness, spirituality, and deep connection to nature.
Alexis will be lovingly remembered by her husband David Mackenzie Cawood of 32 years, her brother Fred Moore, and sisters Sylvia Flynn, Martha Russell, and Pamela Keim (Jason). Also, fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews: Allen, Michael, David, and Roderick (Monica) Moore; Laura, Lisa, and Anna Nelson; Michael, Shawn (Eve), and Bridget Flynn; and Gabrielle Russell.
