Ninety-nine years is a pretty good run, and Amy lived each day to its fullest.
All who knew Amy are deeply saddened by her passing, but treasure every minute and memory shared with her.
Amy was somebody everybody wanted to be around – forever fun-loving and filled with an all-embracing kindness. She was a caring mother, a wonderful baker, a canny canasta player, and her patio garden brimmed with flowers. She was an inspiration to all she met.
Amy possessed a rare energy. Maybe that’s why she worked steadily as an accountant until her late eighties and didn’t turn in her car keys until she passed ninety. She was unstoppable. It was a life well lived for a Prairie-born girl who moved to Vancouver, travelled the world, contributed greatly to the community, and made many, many dear friends along the way. Her zest for life uplifted all around her.
Lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family – children Ricky, Patricia, and Rob (Sandi) – and her beloved grandchildren Finn, Camille, Zoe, and Sophie. She will also be missed by all those at Goldwood Industries with whom she stayed in close touch, her lifelong friend Van who was always up for a game of cards or a trip to the casino, and the good people at Parkdale Manor where she spent many happy active years.
Thank you to all her nieces and nephews from across Canada for their sympathy and colorful memories of Amy, her sisters Elaine and Edna, and her brothers Walter and Lawrence, all of whom passed before her. She was the last of a generation to ride a pony to a one-room schoolhouse and recall a childhood on a Saskatchewan farm with no indoor plumbing. It bred in her a rare strength of spirit and resolve to push through any challenge.
At Amy’s request, no ceremony will be held. If you would like to do something in remembrance, please donate to the charity of your choice or share a memory with her family and friends. All will be deeply cherished.
