It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our dear mum and grandma, Beatrice Ford, who passed away at the age of 89 on June 6, 2021. Bea leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Lyman Ford, her children Laura Drost (Dick), Ross Ford (Sue), Brian Ford (Bonny), and Barb Kissinger (Scot), and her granddaughters Tressa, Amelia, and Claire.
Bea was born and raised in North Vancouver and graduated from St. Paul’s School of Nursing in 1953. She was a compassionate homecare nurse who developed a special bond with those she cared for. As a long-time resident of North Vancouver, she made friends with everyone she met in the community and was known for her kindness, warm smile, and zest for life. Her lifelong passion was her garden where she spent countless happy hours. She generously shared her plants and vast knowledge of gardening with fellow green thumbs. Bea was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren and always looked forward to family gatherings. Her Yorkshire pudding, rhubarb pie, and shortbread are second to none. Mum was, above all, a nurturer. She was our home, and we will miss her big hugs, long stories, and garden tours.
We’d like to thank Brenda Kay for her long-time care of mum, as well as the staff at VGH for their care in her final years.
