Bryan E. Tierney, CPA, has left us too soon after a rapid onset of lymphoma, following a bout with prostate cancer. Bryan had humble beginnings working in a family-owned building supply on Hastings, Burnaby. With the encouragement of his beautiful and talented wife, Brenda (also a CPA), and his brother-in-law, Pat Jones, a civil engineer of note, he enrolled in university as a senior student. He graduated SFU with a degree in Economics (honors). He turned down life changing job offers to go his own way with a career in public accounting. After founding an accounting firm in the mid-70s, which became Tierney & White after partnering with his friend Phil White, the firm quickly rose to provincial, national and international success. During this time, Bryan made time to serve at the Institute for Chartered Accountants, where he served as Chair and set the exams in all accounting sub-disciplines. Bryan was incredibly generous, especially with his financial advice, which you followed, or else. Bryan travelled the world in the company of his family and close friends, but nothing brought him more joy than driving to a lake in a GM product to do some fishing. Bryan is survived by his wife, his son Keith (Jeannie Lee), helper Nicole, and a large array of family and friends North and South of the border.
