Elizabeth Mary “Buffy” Matthew passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 31, 2026, at the age of 70.
Buffy was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. She lived all over Canada with her military husband Mark; they were even posted to Germany. She retired to Chilliwack, BC. Buffy will be remembered as one of the most loving and caring people and mother you could ever meet. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a spirited, “spicy” personality that brought laughter and warmth to those around her. Her presence lit up every room, and her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is lovingly remembered as “Jump Scare Champion” by her children, Keith Shaw and Leslie Nerheim; her children-in-law, Karen Shaw and Josh Nerheim; and her cherished grandchildren, Tristan and Cameron Nerheim.
Buffy was predeceased by her parents, George and Jocelyn Matthew; her brother, “Sandy” Matthew; and her nephew, Michael Matthew.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.
