Clarice Elaine Scriabin (née MacEwan) passed away suddenly but peacefully on 11 January 2023 in Vancouver, BC.
Born in Montreal, Elaine (known as Bunty in those days) was a true beauty who lit up the room with her smile. After college and being crowned Queen of the Georgian Winter Carnival Elaine made her way west where she began her working life as secretary for Doug Sutcliffe at Dominion Construction and went on to a 28 year career with the Richmond School Board in various positions ending up Executive Secretary to the Superintendent(s) for 9 years.
Elaine’s interests were varied. She loved music and watching tennis, she loved the outdoors especially skiing, hiking & canoeing, enjoying many years as a member of the Outsetter Club with her best friend Karen and all the gals and the Dogwood Canoe Club with paddling partner Andy Gore. She also cared deeply for her many pets over the years.
Her greatest achievement and most important to her were her two children, Nicole & Andrew. We were a small family but so strong, because of her.
Elaine was predeceased by her beloved sister Beverley and her mother and father, Clarice & James and is survived by dearly loved cousins and nieces and nephews.
Nicole & Andrew would like to thank Mum's Care Aides and the staff at Point Grey Private Hospital who treated Mum with so much love & respect and became like family to all of us.
Elaine will be remembered for her grace, her love of life & laughter and being a great and loyal friend. Mostly she was the best mother anyone could have asked for and is loved and missed beyond words.
No flowers please but donations to Alzheimer’s BC, SPCA BC or to a charity of your choice would be a lovely tribute.
