It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Donald H. MacKenzie on December 25, 2022. Don was born in Brampton, Ontario and grew up in Vancouver. He graduated from Point Grey High School and earned an accounting degree at Simon Fraser University. He became a Chartered Accountant in 1978.
Through his strong work ethic, perseverance, and aptitude for mathematics he ascended from humble beginnings to a long successful career in accounting and international investment banking. Don spent most of his career as a Chartered Accountant and bank executive in Tokyo and Seoul, rising to chief risk officer of one of South Korea's largest banks. Don's career in the far east led to him being fluent in Japanese, Korean, and Russian. On his retirement, Don returned to Vancouver and re-connected with many of his old friends, especially his football buddies from the Meraloma club. He enjoyed traveling the world, distance running, weight lifting, and playing many sports.
Don is survived by his daughter Dr. Shannon Sheppard (James), son Chad, grandchildren Wyatt, Charlotte, and Skylar; brother Brian (Christine), nephews Sean and Brett, and grandnephews Dylan and Evan.
