Donat Joseph Arthur Trudel

It is with great sadness to announce that after a lengthy illness, my dear husband Don passed away at age 67 at Lions Gate Hospital on January 17th, 2026. Don is survived by is loving wife Lori of 26 years and his cat Ritz, Step son Victor, and brother and sister, Stewart and Tracey both of Ontario. He was my true love and anchor in life. He had a kind beautiful heart and soul. His smile and laughter always filled my heart with joy. Don was such a gentle lovely man whom everyone adored. Ritz, (our cat) and I will forever miss his presence in our lives.

Don was born on January 26th, 1958, in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. He was predeceased by our beloved cat Budski, his step daughter Danielle and his mother Patricia Raycroft.

Don loved hockey. He played for the Soo Greyhounds. His dream was to play for the NHL. With Don’s great talent and determination, he advanced to the American Hockey League (AHL) farm team for the Buffalo Sabres. After an injury, Don left this sport, but this did not diminish his enthusiasm for life. He always lived his life to the fullest. Don had a great passion for sports. He loved hockey, football and golf.

One of Don’s favourite pastimes was to be outdoors. He loved going for walks, especially in the evening. He liked walking along the nature trails. He was fascinated by nature’s beauty and all the wild critters of the forest. He had his favourite bench in a park near our house and always looked forward to seeing all the dog and crow friends.

Don will be sincerely missed by all his friends and neighbours.

When Don entered my life, this truly was a blessing. The love that I have for Don will be forever cherished in my heart. Until we see each other again. Baby- I love you so very much.

I would like to express my thanks to the staff at Lions Gate Hospital. Especially to the wonderful staff on the HAU ward. Don’s dignity remained intact under their care. Thank you so much for your kindness and compassion in taking good care of Don.

Don, you are now free from illness. Spread your wings and soar the heavenly sky. When you fly the skies during the day- look at the sun. It is bright and beautiful like you. When you fly in the night-time sky-it will brighten with your wonderful presence. You will see the moon and many stars. Take a star Don and put it in your pocket- to remind you always of all the people who loved you.
