It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edgar (Ed) Arnold Hauschka on December 2, 2024, at the age of 84. Ed was born in Vancouver, BC, in 1940 to Walter and Dorothy Hauschka. He attended St. George's Secondary School before obtaining his business degree from the University of British Columbia. In 1964, Ed was married to his first wife Gail and they had two children Suzanne and Paul who he treasured. Ed became a CPA, CA, and began his accounting career at KPMG. He took over and operated his family’s manufacturing business in the 1970s before settling in Whistler in 1985 and starting his own business, Whistler Irrigation, with his son, Paul.
Ed moved to Whistler to spend more time doing what he loved, including skiing, hiking with his dogs Beau, Coco, and Toby, and enjoying the outdoors. He cherished the many friends and coworkers he made over the years and called Whistler home. He will be remembered as a man who valued spending time with his family and enjoyed many special family vacations to favorite destinations such as Hawaii, Palm Springs, and Mexico. His love for travel took him to China, Malaysia, Europe, and Africa, where he hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Ed will be remembered for his positive outlook, welcoming and loving nature, hard work and dedication, and his inspiring support and encouragement of those around him.
He is lovingly survived by his wife Jacie, daughter Suzanne (husband Vic), son Paul, daughter-in-law Lisa and his grandchildren, Trevor, Kaila, Tiana, and Sophia.
We would like to thank all the caregivers in Whistler, Squamish Renal Dialysis, and the dedicated nurses and physicians at St. Paul’s Hospital Renal and Palliative units who supported Ed during his most challenging times.
Ed will be celebrated and remembered at a private family gathering.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ed’s memory to the BC Cancer Society General Donation Form - BC Cancer Foundation
