Ed will be remembered as a gentleman, mentor and welcoming friend. He was a man who had great dreams and never abandoned them.
Ed was born August 18, 1922 in Edmonton, AB. In his youth he was elected to Boys and Senior Young Men’s Parliament and after graduation from Old Strathcona High School in Edmonton he served with the RCAF in WW2. For 5 years he served as an Equipment Assistant in the Queen Charlotte Islands, Toronto, Calgary, England and Germany.
Upon completion of his war service Ed worked in retail automotive and then in construction equipment sales and management. Ed worked in management positions in Toyota, Isuzu, Volvo and Nissan.
Finally, Ed began his own company, iMi, specializing in international ventures mainly in China and Japan.
Ed was a proud Shriner for 64 years.
Ed was the last of his generation. He was preceded by his daughter Lorraine; his parents Jim and Sophie Miles; his siblings Margaret Hanlan, Ray Miles, George Miles and his twin sister Esther Rawson.
He will be missed by his friends, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held in Edmonton in 2020.
