After emigrating to Canada at the beginning of the Depression, the Bruces settled in Cobourg, Ontario. She met her husband Dave at an ice skating party in Cobourg and after their marriage, they lived in various Ontario locations including Deep River, Peterborough and Ottawa. Music was a life-long passion, and singing in particular - Kiwanis Festival competitions, church choir singing/directing and travelling to the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto for training were mainstays in her life while raising five children. Upon their retirement, they moved to Vancouver and trained for a major senior bike tour to Australia. After Dave’s passing in White Rock, she settled with Lynda in the City of Vancouver.
Her full and remarkable life will be celebrated at a family gathering.
