

Ethel Pattison passed away on December 22, 2025, at the age of 93 in North Vancouver, BC.
Born on May 6, 1932 in Blairmore, Alberta, Ethel lived a full life characterized by her dedication to her friends, family and her passion for the arts. Aunt Ethel was a warm person and was always ready with a story about the past and a piece of advice for the future. She was a beloved figure in her community known for her sharp wit, an enduring kindness and her beautiful penmanship when writing cards.
She spent 35 years working at BC Rail starting in 1961 culminating as the Executive Assistant to the President. She enjoyed a successful career and developed several lifelong relationships.
She was preceded in death by her partner Don Urdea (2016) and husband Pat Pattison (1985), both died on March 1st. Also her parents Peter and Susan Kubik, and siblings Anne (Rudolph) Cerney, Emma (Guido) Giacomuzzi, and John (Vernonica) Kubik.
She is survived by her devoted nieces and nephews Laren (Della) Giacomuzzi, Rick Giacomuzzi (Cindy Young), Glenn (Rita) Kubik, Paul (Andrea) Kubik, Colleen (Dino) Zuzic, and Lori (Alex) Tahmazian. She is also survived by Don’s children: her beloved stepdaughters Karen Seeley and Susan Urdea, and her stepson Don. As well, she is survived by numerous cousins, grand nieces and grand nephews.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to Karen Seeley, Russ Kubik, and Jen Ma for their loving presence at the time of Ethel’s passing.
She was a member of the Alpha Iota Sorority and enjoyed several close friendships including Carole Lee and Pat Castle along with numerous neighbors including Paula and Chris and past co-workers including Isabel Kilgour.
There will be an interment on May 6, 2026 at 1 pm
First Memorial Funeral Services at Boal Chapel and Memorial Gardens
