My grandmother, Pierrette Jolin Laurencelle, was very fond of her. She was telling me about her friend just yesterday, wondering what had become of her. I just learned she had passed. She will be dearly missed by Pierrette, now 95 y.o. We were looking at pictures of them from when she visited Francine in Vancouver back in 2014. All my sympathy to her family.

years. And have the fondest memories of such a wonderful musician

           Je viens seulement d'être informé de la disparition de Francine
qui m'était une amie très chère.  Je l'ai connue à la Sorbonne en 1965
à l'Institut de Musicologie. Elle est venue souvent  me visiter au Château de La Houssaye en France. Que de fois avons-nous conversé, cela m'a toujours été bénéfique. 
Je ne laisserai jamais de penser à elle et  de prier pour elle;

I was surprised on my birthday, July 14th, not to have received a greeting from Francine. She always sent witty wishes, with a quote from La Marseillaise. How could I know that she was no more? I so very much appreciated her company when we played recorder in Edmonton, so many years ago, and we very much enjoyed her visits when she came back from Vancouver to see us. She always regaled us with wonderful stories from deepest Quebec. I admired her musicianship - recorder and keyboard in my case - and her principled, though non-dogmatic, way of life.  The vegan cuisine was always a bit of a challenge. I had hoped to see and play with her again some day in Vancouver. I regret most deeply that that will never happen. My condolences to the family on the loss of such a vibrant presence.

C'est avec une profonde tristesse que je appris hier soir le décès de Francine.  Francine et moi avons travaillé ensemble à Edmonton en 1982-1983, ce qui a été le début d'une grande amitié qui, 38 ans plus tard, se poursuivait toujours, même après son installation sur la côte ouest et la mienne sur la côte est, puis en Ontario.  Comme nous avions la météorologie et, surtout, la musique en commun, c'était toujours un plaisir de lui écrire et de lui parler à l'occasion, et encore plus de la rencontrer quand elle passait par Ottawa ou que je passais par Vancouver.  Elle me manquera beaucoup.  Sincères condoléances à toute sa famille ainsi qu'à ses amis et amies. 

I was saddened to read of Francine’s passing.  I hadn’t seen her in many years, but she left an impression on me as a knowledgeable and adventurous musician, constantly learning a variety of instruments.  Francine was generous with her time and talents and accompanied me during my violin exams on a few occasions.

Pour Étienne: bonnes pensées pour toi et les tiens. Toujours difficile quand la fratrie est atteinte.

Je viens tout juste d'apprendre le décès de Francine. Elle a été mon "mentor" que je suis arrivé au centre météorologique du Pacifique au début des années "90. Sa gentillesse, son professionnalisme, sa patience, sa rigueur, et pardessus tout son érudition et sa grande culture m'avait impressionné. Merci Francine.

I was saddened to learn of Francine's death: I knew her well through Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver where for many years she was a member of the choir and a student of the pipe organ.  She was generous in her support of the music ministry of the Cathedral and an enthusiastic choral singer.  In those years it was my privilege to be the Dean of the Cathedral and we met frequently; she had 'old school' manners but possessed a wonderful sense of humour!  Her many kindnesses, her thoughtful participation and good humour were gifts to me and to the Cathedral Choir.  May she rest in peace.  

I am very sorry to learn of the passing of Francine. I had the pleasure of working with her at the Pacific Weather Centre. One episode in particular demonstrated her strong character and dedication. I believe that it was the evening of Valentines Day in 1990. Vancouver was paralyzed by over 30 cm of snow and all transit was at a standstill.  I was expecting a call from Francine to say that she could not make it for the evening shift. Then she amazed us all by showing up in right on time ... after walking 69 blocks along Granville Street! What a portrait of integrity.

I am very saddened to hear of Francine's passing. We played in Brock House Orchestra for almost  twenty years. Francine was the most amazing lady. The greatest orchestra manager,  conductor and musician. We played in a string quartet for a few years and rehearsed at her place at times. God bless her soul. Paul.

Dear family and friends of Francine,
I am so sad and shocked to hear of the passing of Francine.  I send you my deep condolences and know she will be very much missed. I have only known Francine since about 2014 when I joined the Brock House orchestra as one of the very small number of viola players.  She has been such a wonderful leader and organizer in having this orchestra function and bring such enjoyment to all its members, plus via the various concerts she helped organize. She was a wonderful desk mate and I will remember so fondly some of our discussions of books, current events, and perspectives from her home province of Quebec.  I was so looking forward to seeing Francine again when the orchestra would again be allowed to gather.  I will miss her very much. -- Johanna den Hertog 

To all the family of dear Francine
I am a long time friend of Francine, having first met her at CAMMAC in the Laurentians north of Montreal. When she moved to Victoria, we saw each other fairly frequently and when she moved to Vancouver, we kept up the contact.
I had been worried about her during the recent heat dome in Vancouver and started calling her on July4th. I was a few days too late.
The only family phone number I have is for Antoine in Montreal. I would like to know about her last illness and death. Thank-you.

Toutes mes condoléances à la famille Panet-Raymond de ma part et de celui de mon épouse. Francine était une collègue et amie appréciée.

On s'est rencontré sur le cours de météo et avons été posté à Edmonton en même temps. Nous avons toujours gardé le contact même si nos points d'attache ont divergé. Francine était une personne chaleureuse et curieuse de tout. Elle nous manquera beaucoup.
