

June 7, 1950 – March 6, 2026
Garry passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He lived with a vibrant, infectious energy that lit up every room, carrying a creative and hardworking spirit into every aspect of his life.
Garry joined the military at 17 and served proudly in the Royal Canadian Engineers for 25 years, achieving the rank of Master Warrant Officer and title of Sergeant Major. Following his military career, he was proud to have worked 25 years at BC Hydro serving the community and achieving the title of CTech.
One of Garry’s big loves was music. He was an outstanding musician and a staple of the Lower Mainland music scene for over 50 years. Garry played with countless musicians and bands locally and overseas, which he loved and respected.
Garry, aka (Garry 2 Rs) was also a proud member of the Manitoba Metis Federation with a deep pride for his heritage. The family’s bannock/galette and stew served as the family glue. He was also a dedicated supporter of reconciliation and always tried to be an example for others.
Garry’s true legacy is defined by his tremendous heart and the deep love he shared with his family. He is predeceased by his parents, Marcel and Freda, Mother-in-Law Edna Mead, his brother Richard and his daughter Robynn and her husband Lawrence, brother-in-law Gary Wright.
Garry is survived by his best friend and loving wife Gael of 54 years, his daughter Brooke (Marlon) 3 grandsons, Donavon, Marcus and Tyson, who he loved with all his heart, his brothers and sisters Barbara (Andy), Sharon, sister-in-law JoAnne, Gordon (Laura Lee), Holly (Wayne), Michelle (Robert), Kenneth (Barbara), Keith (Barbara), sister-in-law Diane, and Aunts, Uncles, 21 nieces and nephews, 32 great nieces and nephews and 2 great, great nieces and nephews, and many loving cousins that he adored.
Garry will be lovingly remembered for his joyful spirit, musical soul, his distinguished careers, his unwavering and unconditional love for his family, the great hair flicks…best “dad jokes” endless one liners…like his favorite/signature…
