George passed away peacefully on February 2, 2019, after a valiant 3-year battle against cancer. He was surrounded by family and two of his favourite nurses at North Shore Hospice in North Vancouver, BC.
He will be lovingly remembered by his girlfriend and partner of 10 years, son, daughter,
son-in-law and four grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife and three sisters.
George will be deeply missed by many friends, extended family and all who knew him. He was a loving father, husband and partner, grandfather and friend. He was generous with his time and was always happy to help friends and family with household projects, problem-solving or whatever they may have needed.
George was a proud and highly respected police officer with the Vancouver City Police Department and retired in 1999 after 35 years of service. He rose to achieve many accomplishments throughout his career as well as in retirement.
George was passionate about learning and was accomplished in a variety of academic fields. He had a love of aviation and was proud to be a pilot. He loved books and reading, motorcycles, travel and tackling construction projects with fastidious attention to detail. He took great pleasure sharing life with his girlfriend and enjoyed watching football with his family and friends.
He would be glad to know that Tom Brady recently celebrated another Super Bowl victory. George was a talented athlete with ambidextrous abilities in baseball, bowling and boxing. He also excelled in karate and was a skilled marksman, mariner and equestrian. He was especially talented at tasting all kinds of cooking. He enjoyed trying new things and embarking on adventures. George strived to live life to its fullest and experience all that life could offer.
A very heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and all other staff at the North Shore Hospice for their loving care and support to George. He was immensely grateful for their care, as is the family.
Please celebrate George in your own way as there will be no service per his request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North Shore Hospice & Palliative Project.
Carpe Diem, Dad. We know you are enjoying a fantastic reunion. We love you.
