George was a one of a kind, amazing human being who left an imprint on everyone he met. Whether it was just a casual hello while walking our dogs or being with family, friends or co-workers, he made everyone feel at ease because he was so genuinely interested every time he spoke to anyone. George was always smiling as everyday was a wonderful day to him. He told me once he never wanted to have a bad day because it took too much effort and energy that would be wasted on not being happy!
George not only danced to his own drummer, he had his own full orchestra. His wonderful sense of humour was matched by his beloved collection of Hawaiian shirts. You could not help but smile when George walked into a room. His positive energy and exuberant enjoyment of life was not only contagious, it was as clear as the shirt on his back.
George had gone through some challenges in the past 5 years from his head injury to being diagnosed with cancer but he never let that get him down. He is my true love, my hero, my anchor, my personal cheerleader and best friend! I miss you so much my dearest George. I know you are out there wandering the galaxy and singing our favourite songs “Over the Rainbow” and “What a Wonderful World” while wearing one of your signature Hawaiian shirts to make sure everyone is still smiling!
George’s favourite line from the movie Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy was “goodbye and thanks for all the fish” and I truly believe that is how he would have said goodbye to everyone. Please remember to smile, laugh a lot and enjoy life as George did!
A celebration of his wonderful life as George would have wanted will be held later this year.
