September 14, 1931 - July 6, 2016
With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our dear mother. Daughter of David and Emma (Edwards) Barry, Helen is pre deceased by her parents, brothers Ted and Donald and her former husband John. Survived by her brother Pat, children David (Barbara), Carolyn (Steve) and Susan Butler (Keith) along with grandchildren Max, Grace, Reid, Bryce, Liam, Elise and Cara and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Rosetown SK and spent her formative years as a student boarder at St. Joseph's Convent School graduating as valedictorian. Following a year teaching in Spruce Lake SK's 4 room schoolhouse, Mom became a flight attendant. In that role, Mom travelled to the DEW line delivering supplies to the Arctic Circle and later to Hawaii, Tokyo, Fiji, Mexico City, Amsterdam, Lima and Rio. Mom met our father through their shared love of flying. It was as a homemaker extraordinaire that Mom found her true calling. Throughout her life, Mom loved a good book, the latest fashions, Wimbledon and the " last of the fresh sole". Mom's Catholic faith sustained her through many difficult times. We would like to thank St. Stephen's, Mom's neighbours and friends and especially Barbara Byers and Terry Warren for their support. If there was ever a greater gift that Mom left us other than her
kindness, love and gentleness, it was her strength and tenacity in the face of adversity. Thank you Mom. We love and miss you. You are the freshest soul ever! A mass and reception will be held at St. Stephen's, North Vancouver 11a.m. July 13.
