Helen Jean Dube passed away peacefully May 3, 2025. Helen was born August 21, 1935 in Montreal, Quebec. After high school she worked for Crane Plumbing; there she made friends that would last a lifetime and also met her future husband, Bob, there. Helen and Bob were married September 12, 1962. Bob and Helen loved music and dancing and were lucky enough to see Elvis in concert. Their first daughter Sherry was born in August 1963 and their second, Christine, in January 1965. The family moved from Quebec to North Vancouver in the summer of 1971. Bob and Helen loved to travel and went on many family trips to Florida, California and their favourite- the Maui Lu resort in Hawaii. Helen was always very active with the church and Women’s’ Guild group. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, enjoyed going out for walks, jazzercize and even took tap dancing lessons. Helen had many, many friends and kept friends for life. Helen and Bob also became very good friends with three other couples – they became a group called the Elegant Eight and went on to have many wonderful adventures together. Helen was very close with her family and especially her sister, Phyllis. They spoke on the phone every day for decades. Phyllis would visit regularly and came on several family holidays. Helen especially loved her 5 grandchildren and two great grandchildren- and they loved her too. Helen was always the life of the party – enjoyed being goofy, loved to laugh and had a fantastic sense of humour. Her sense of humour was great but her sense of direction – not so much - resulting in many funny getting lost stories. Helen loved her birthday – anyone who knew her dared not forget it and so we will continue to celebrate Helen every August 21! Everyone who knew her will greatly miss her.
