Helen Galbraith Upton

It is with great sorrow that the family of Helen Galbraith Upton (nee Richmond) announces her passing at Burnaby General Hospital on May 2,2023. Helen was born in Blantyre Lanarkshire Scotland in November of 1928. She emigrated to Canada as an infant and her family settled on Wall Street. A lifelong Vancouverite, Helen married our dad, Robert (Bob)Upton in 1949 and together they lived in their house on East 21st Avenue until his death in 2000. Mom missed him terribly- she lived in her family home until 2014 when she moved to Shannon Oaks.

She is lovingly survived by her 4 children and their spouses- Heather (Dennis) McAuley, Colleen (Steve) Webb, Shelagh (Pat) Pagazzi and Ian (Denise) Upton. She was a loving Nana to David (Desiree) McAuley, Lauren McAuley, Allison Webb, Stephenie Webb, Graeme (Tanya) Webb, Adam (Maya) Pagazzi Andrew (Dana) Pagazzi, Malcolm (Danica) Upton, and Rachel Upton,

She was a Great Nana to Ghyslaine (Marvin) Webb-Scott, Hudson and Amelia McAuley as well as her newest great granddaughter Josephine (Josie)Webb-Otero.

Mom was fiercely proud of her family and was a dedicated community volunteer in PTA, the BC Highland Dancing Association and the Macte Service Club. She graduated from Templeton Secondary and the Grandview High School of Commerce and worked for many years in office and administrative jobs.

We take great comfort knowing that she is re-united with our dad. She was the family matriarch, and we will miss her enormously.

A memorial Service is planned for Thursday June 15th@2pm at Boal Chapel 1505 Lillooet in North Vancouver. Thank you to the Shannon Oaks staff and all the medical staff who cared for our mom.
