September 20, 1925 - May 8, 2023
Henny was born in the small town of Delmas Saskatchewan to Adelard and Permelia Champoux on September 20, 1925. Henny was the 15th of 16 children. They all pitched in to work the family farm and they became prosperous farmers. But like so many others they fell on hard times during the dust bowl of the 1930’s. Her parents sold the family farm and they ended up in Richmond, British Columbia. They had a small blueberry farm on Ferndale Road.
Henny finished her schooling in Richmond and it wasn’t long after that she met the love of her life, Bill Allan. These were dark times in the world and Henny worked at a box factory while Bill went off to war. Fortunately, Bill survived the war and when he returned he and Henny courted and were married in 1948.
Henny and Bill had a great life together. They worked hard and made a happy and safe home for their 3 children. Henny was a very good athlete. As a young mother she played Fastpitch softball and pitched for the Garden City Gals. She also was an excellent Bowler and played for the Pindusters for a number of years. Later in life she learned to swim, ski and golf.
After Bill’s retirement Henny and Bill travelled on numerous road trips to the U.S.A. and Mexico. They both loved to go to Reno and Las Vegas to do a little gambling and take in a few shows. They also really enjoyed going to Hawaii to visit Henny’s brother Roy.
Henny loved her entire family and was loved in return. She is survived by her 3 children; Sharon (Dave), Robert (Janis), and James (Rosalyn). She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren; Jennifer, Rachel and Clayton and her 4 Great grandchildren Zachary, Luke, Benjamin and Abby. She will be missed. Her ashes will be interred alongside Bill’s at First Memorial in North Vancouver, BC.
