at Lions Gate Hospital about 1 a.m. on Remembrance Day. He had
excellent, compassionate care these past few months at Evergreen Care
Centre and during his final week of Palliative Care at the hospital.
Ivor was born in Vancouver living and working there until the late 50s when
he was transferred by the Crane Company to the Bay Area in California. It
was a dream come true for him because he loved the sun and the lifestyle
there. His other true love was “his girl” Janet Stewart who became his
bride on June 19, 1947 and was the mother of his children Gary and
Mardelle. Ivor and Janet retired in 1986 returning to live in North
Vancouver and Abbotsford.
For the past five years, he and his wife Janet have been residents at Cedar
Springs Retirement Residence in North Vancouver. They have two children
(Gary and Mardelle), six grandchildren (Justin, Chris, Mardi, Megan, Jacob
and Kyle) and six great grandchildren (Takaya, Neve, Ryan, Koa, Ava and
Haven) who will miss this sweet man and his favourite toast: “Here’s to
Family!”
At almost 95 years old, Ivor enjoyed a full and happy life married to Janet
for the last 72 of those years. No memorial service is planned but your
thoughts and prayers are appreciated. If you wish to, please make a
donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C. or Lions Gate Hospital.
