Jean passed away on March 27th at the age of 81. She will be sorely missed by her son Ryan, her grandson Brayden Halldorson, her niece Leah and family, her brother Ron and family, and her brother-in-law Graeme. Jean was a very special Gigi to Brayden and loved his visits. Jean really enjoyed visits from Graeme and her family, playing a strong hand at cribbage. She was always upbeat despite her many physical challenges with never a complaint. Jean showed great fortitude dealing with visual and dental procedures that were often painful, knowing that they improved her quality of life.
Jean was a devoted wife to Al Mason who predeceased her by 21 years and a caring mom for her daughter Alana, who passed away in 2023 after a long illness. Al and Jean travelled all around the world for many years while she enjoyed good health. Jean worked for many years at the Fraser Valley Credit Union and volunteered at the Abbotsford Hospital for many years. She also enjoyed making pepper jellies, selling them for many years at Christmas craft markets. She also particularly enjoyed her time as a member of the Red Hats. Jean was a kind, unselfish and generous person. Our world is a sadder place now that she is no longer a part of it. She will, however, live on in our memories. Rest in peace, Jean.
A Celebration of Life at Jean’s clubhouse at 31406 Upper McLure Road, Abbotsford will be held on June 8 at 1:00 pm.
Funeral arrangements have been made with First Memorial in North Vancouver.
