Jack Simington, 76, passed away peacefully at North Shore Hospice on October 30, 2025, with family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Laurie, daughters Kelly (Luke) and Jacklyn (Ryan), and his favourite stray, Nevene, as well as siblings Bill (Jane), Sandra, and Linda (Pat), and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Frances, and nephew, Billy.
Born on October 21, 1949 in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Jack moved to West Vancouver with his parents and siblings in 1958 and spent the rest of his life on the North Shore. He worked for Saskatchewan Wheat Pool (now Cargill) for 40 years. When his daughters were young, his free time was spent driving around BC to softball, soccer, and rugby games. Later on, at around 1 pm on weekdays he could be found at the Pemberton Station Pub, and at other times, puttering around the house, pretending not to like the dogs and cats.
The family would like to thank everyone involved in Jack’s care, especially the nurses at North Shore Hospice and Lions Gate Hospital.
A Celebration of Life for Jack will be held at the Capilano Rugby Football Club (305 Klahanie Court, West Vancouver) on Saturday, January 10th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, for those who are so inclined, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to North Shore Hospice.
