Johnny was born on Valentines Day to Marie Sofié Gjerde and Harold Magnar Gjerde at Lions Gate Hospital, North Vancouver, BC.
He was a true kind spirit and a comedian, a master builder/carpenter who loved working with his hands. His true happy place and labour of love for over 40 years was his Shuswap Lake cabin property.
Johnny was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in 2022. He stoically and bravely battled for 2.5 years before ending it his way, with family and friends at his side, on December 16, 2024.
Johnny was predeceased by his mother 11 days earlier on December 5, 2024, and his father on April 19, 1986. He is very missed by his sister Hildegunn Dmytriw (Roman), brother Barry Gjerde (Teresa), nieces and nephews Sofie Laforest (Derek), Daniel, Larissa, Harald, Eva, young grand nephews Grayson and Anderson, and stepdaughters Sarah French and Tabitha Neudorf, along with many extended family and good friends.

A memorial service will be held at Boal Funeral Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver on Friday, January 31, 2025 @ 2:00pm.
