Keith passed away peacefully at Point Grey Private Hospital after a long, challenging battle with dementia.
Keith was born and raised in Vancouver and spent his formative years growing up in the Dunbar area. He went to Lord Byng school where he made lifelong friends and terrorized the teachers! It was at this time that he became interested in football and rugby. After graduating, he found his true calling as a salesman and went to work for Adka Industries and then Continental Business Supplies.
Rugby was his main sports interest and The Meraloma Club was to be a source of lifelong friendships. He always lived close to the Loma Club and contributed through the years to it’s growth and success.
“Once a Loma, always a Loma”
He joined Dick’s Lumber as a partner in 1967 and never looked back. The company grew and prospered over the years and upon his retirement, he was thought of as a respected and valued member of the lumber industry.
Keith married Gaye after convincing her to return to Vancouver from Toronto. They shared a love of adventure and travel, and set out to explore the world from trains, planes, and automobiles! When they discovered small ship cruising, they quickly learned that this was the “only way to go” for them. They really enjoyed their cruises and were happiest when planning another one.
Keith loved his city, and from their home in Kitsilano he and Gaye wandered frequently to Granville Island, 4th Avenue, Kits Beach etc. He truly felt that they lived in the best place, and upon returning from their frequent travels, would always voice that opinion.
Fishing at Langara and watching their race horses run were fun summer pastimes along with hosting Fireworks Festival parties, & Bathtub Race brunches. When Keith and Gaye started spending the winters in Palm Desert, it quickly became their “other home”. They enjoyed their busy social life with many friends from near and far.
Keith will be forever missed by Gaye, Brad, Mummy, Larry & Donna and countless friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
To remember Keith (Siggy), please perform a random act of kindness.
This journey would have been so much more difficult to navigate without the care, compassion and patience of Keith’s home caregivers through the years … Sunny, Donna, Bridget, Leon, Genet, Connie. As well as the caregivers, nurses, and all the staff at Point Grey who so lovingly looked after Siggy in his final days.
