Ken was born in 1929 in Liverpool, England into a close knit family. In 1939, WW II began so during his growing years, Ken's family suffered the bombing and rationing of wartime but fortunately they all survived. Ken excelled at school, then worked for several years with English Electric, while spending weekends climbing mountains or cycling with friends.
His love of the outdoors convinced him in the early 1960s to move to New Zealand with a stop over in Vancouver. However, in Vancouver he found the the mountains and the skiing so attractive that he stayed and began working at BC Hydro.
On one hiking trip he met his future wife, Pat. They married and soon had a house and two children, Susan and Philip. Ken also loved the sea and even bought a 26 foot sailboat which the family enjoyed for a few years until it was finally determined that the rest of the family were actually landlubbers.
Ken was quick to recognize the possibilities of computers and the family was soon playing early computer games like Pac Man. Later, Ken bought photoshop and spent endless hours rearranging photos, blowing up and sizing down. It gave him hours of endless pleasure.
In 1988 he retired from BC Hydro and became an avid cook. Wonderful spicy aromas began to fill the house and the kitchen was soon supplied with many new appliances recommended by TV's gourmets. Ken was an adventurous cook and his Sunday curries were the stuff of legends.
Ken was a loving and supportive husband to Pat and a wonderful father to Susan and Philip. His amazing sense of humour would leave everyone laughing.
Always a keen soccer fan, Ken coached Philip's boyhood soccer team and supported Philip when he began coaching soccer. Ken also enjoyed watching his grandson, John, play soccer and inline hockey and he enjoyed his granddaughter, Kate's, horseback riding. Eventually age began to creep up on Ken but he continued to support Liverpool soccer team, and their games became family events, enjoyed and much discussed. Ken will be sadly missed but, as they say in Liverpool, YNWA (You'll Never Walk Alone.)
