Kurt was born on Aug. 22, 1944 in Bromberg Germany to Alexander and Adele (Liebelt) Stachow. As a 15 year old orphan he immigrated to Canada in 1959. Kurt would go on to become an electrician but his real passion was art. Through the years he had taught himself pencil drawing, painting, carving, and in the late 80's he found his true medium of stone sculpture. His expression through art lives on and will be even more cherished by those that knew him.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years Helga, sons Orson and Kevin, grandchildren Madeleine and Callum, and sister Helga. Although Kurt was taken from us too soon it should be noted that he did not have regrets. His optimism and positive attitude was striking in the face of his diagnosis. He was happy with the life he'd lived and the family he had. We should all be so fortunate!
There will be a private family viewing on Wednesday at First Memorial with a Celebration Of Life to be determined and announced at a later date.
