Celebrating the life and loss of the matriarchal powerhouse, Louise Van Dyke Corless. Louise was born on November 7th, 1940 to Leah and Harry Corless. The last of five children, her love of family was surely a trait with which she entered this world. A beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Friend, Educator, golf partner, and Bejeweled champion, Louise lived a life that none would deign to call boring. Her career in education in the School District of Coquitlam as well as Simon Fraser University brought her great pleasure and fulfillment. One of her greatest joys was hosting grand family dinners, to which many loved ones would travel great distances to attend, every chance she got. Her love for her family mixed with her unrivaled determination was undoubtedly the glue that kept everyone together, and for that we will be forever grateful. That same determination is, of course, what kept her returning to the tee box. Louise was truly a force to be reckoned with, and her spirit lives on in her daughters Grace and Meghan, as well as her granddaughters Anika and Taz.
Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00am Tuesday, August 16th at St. Helen's Anglican Church (4405 W 8th Ave, Vancouver).
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
