February 3, 1923 - October 2, 2018
Our Dad, Ted, passed away at Lions Gate Hospital, October 2nd, 2018. Ted is survived by his beloved spouse Peggy of 63 years, daughter Margie (Bob), son Duane (Shelley ), several grandchildren and great grandchildren. To his children he was strong, a hero, a perfectionist and a man who loved his family with a singleminded devotion. His life with Peggy has been a love story which has been truly inspiring.
Ted was kind and generous to his children and was a proud Grandpa to his 4 grandchildren, Marc, Joey, Brendan and Jordan. He also was proud to add Michael, Matthew and Taylor to his list of family. He now has three great grandchildren, Piper, Finnick and Jack.
Ted enlisted in the RCAF in 1941 and served 31 years with the RCAF and CAF. He served 3 years in France under the United Nations Emergency Force and 1 year Peacekeeping in Egypt. He travelled around the world twice. Ted was also involved as a Flight Engineer on transporting supplies and US troops in support of the Korean War in the 1950’s. He retired from the service in 1972 and moved to North Vancouver where he began a new career in real estate. The move to Ralph Street in Lynn Valley was embraced wholeheartedly and he became a full participant in the Ralph Street neighbourhood. To the many who have stayed in touch, thank you dear friends.
Ted was 95 years old when he died and the last few months were difficult. We are glad that his last moments were peaceful. Thanks to everyone who has been lifting us up this past year.
Thank you to Dr. Marck Hudon for his service to Dad over many years. Dad trusted you and was very grateful to have you on his side. To the staff at Lions Gate Hospital, Evergreen House and Churchill House you have our thanks for your professionalism and diligent care always.
We will be placing Dad’s cremated remains in a niche at Boal Chapel and Memorial Gardens Wednesday, October 17th, 1 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
