Manlio moved to Vancouver when he was 26 years old. While attending a wine tasting party at the Bayshore Inn, Manlio met his future wife and used his Roman charm to quickly sweep her off her feet. He proposed and after a nine-month engagement Manlio and Giorgina were married on October 8, 1966. They were blessed with two sons - Marco and Stefano, and just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary!
Family meant everything to Manlio and he did all he could to spend as much time with them as possible. Manlio was a true soccer fan and his passion showed as he coached both his sons and attended all his grandchildren’s games. He truly enjoyed every moment of life and always shared his Roman charm, jokes and energy with every person he met. Manlio loved singing, dancing, and playing his guitar which provided entertainment for everyone he encountered. Not only was he a proud Italian, but more importantly to him, he was a passionate “Romano”. He was a selfless man giving back to his community through volunteer work with Meals on Wheels. Manlio and Giorgina were very fortunate to have travelled the world together during their retirement years - enjoying many cruises, vacations and memories.
Manlio was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2018 and battled courageously until the very end. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be made to the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society: https://tinyurl.com/3dxr6nrc
Funeral service will be held at St. Pius X Parish in North Vancouver on July 18, 2022, at 11am.
Manlio will be forever in our hearts and is survived by his family: wife Giorgina, sons Marco (Sally) and Stefano (Julie), grandchildren Monica (Aaron), Matteo, Lenny and Marcello and his many relatives and friends in both Vancouver and Italy.
