

Born in Calgary, Alberta, September 28, 1923. Father, John Jefferson. Born in Dundee, Scotland, Accountant, immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, worked for the T. Eaton Company. Mother, Ellen Spratt. Born in Liverpool, England, Midwife, Immigrated to Toronto. They met and were married in Toronto. They moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1910, where a son, Jack and daughter Margaret were born. Father was manager of Lowney’s Chocolates for many years. Parents and brother are deceased.
Margaret was educated in Calgary, and graduated from High School. She worked for the Income Tax Office in Calgary, and then went in nurses training at the Vancouver General Hospital, graduating in 1947. Following graduation she nursed in Santa Barbara, California, and then returned to Calgary where she met Al. They were married in 1949 and lived in Regina, Saskatchewan. Al worked for the Imperial Oil Refinery. They moved to Vancouver in 1956. They had four children, John, Doug, Deborah and Nancy, 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Mother was a Christian, and Margaret made a commitment to Christ as a young girl. For many years, she did not attend church. After three of the children were born, they began attending the First Baptist Church in Regina and later in Vancouver. She made a re-commitment to Christ and together were baptized in 1959. She was always involved in the life of the church, Cubs, Hobbit House, Second Mile Circle, Prison Ministry, Stephen Ministry, Care Friends, and an ESL program. Al passed away January 20, 2009.
The graveside service, for family and close friends, will be at Capilano View Cemetery in West Vancouver at noon, 12 PM.
The Celebration of Life service for Margaret will be at West Vancouver Baptist Church, 450 Mathers Ave., West Vancouver, Tues., Feb., 18 at 1:30 PM.
