Margaret Gladys Nowell

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Margaret Gladys Nowell (nee Davis).

Margaret (Marg), passed quietly in her sleep March 9, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.She was 86 years old.

Marg was born May 16, 1939 to Alice Elizabeth Davis (nee Spears) and Hugh Kitchner Davis in Vancouver General Hospital. She grew up in North Vancouver, BC.

Marg attended Ridgeway Elementary School, Sutherland Junior Secondary, and graduated from North Vancouver Senior Secondary in 1957. She met Dennis Nowell while at North Vancouver Senior Secondary School and they married February 22, 1958.

Marg worked while in school at the Bank of Nova Scotia. She became a mom soon after she was married and left the workforce to raise their four children. Ken, Sue, Tracy and Doug. She went back to work in 1974 when the Sears in Capilano Mall in North Vancouver opened and continued to work there for the next 24 years. In late 1996, Marg and Dennis moved to Walnut Grove in Langley, Marg retired from Sears in 1997 only to go back to work a few months later at the Sears in Langley and continued to work there for many more years.

Marg loved to go for long walks, knit, watch hockey, tennis, baseball and golf, and most especially her seven granddaughters. In later years she also enjoyed her eight great-grandchildren.

Marg is survived by her son Kenneth (Pam), daughter Susan (Terry), daughter Tracy (Cory), son Douglas. Also her granddaughters Megan, Samantha (Adam), Lauren (Dominic), Amanda (Jesse), Rebecca, Jodie and Madelyne and her great grandchildren, Griffin, Niklas, Nash, Gibson, Ellie, Lennon, Roman and Emrie.

We would like to thank all the staff and care aides at Cascade Gardens in Burnaby, BC for the fabulous care Marg enjoyed over the past year.

Marg will be greatly missed by all. A memorial will be held at the Boal Chapel in North Vancouver BC on April 25, 2026 at 1pm, followed by burial at North Vancouver Cemetery.
