In Loving Memory

Margaret (Peggy)Thrower nee Jones of North Vancouver passed away 1st March 2026 at Evergreen House, North Van. Peggy was born in Birmingham UK on 12th April 1937 to parents Doris (Dot) and Frederick (Fred) Jones and had no siblings.

She was educated at the suburb Perry Bar Secondary Modern School, excelled at maths, and became head girl. She was a talented piano player, preferring mostly classical music which she regularly played at church.

Both of her parents died early in Peggy’s life and at the encouragement of a supportive neighbour, she joined a walking club named Holiday Fellowship – jokingly paraphrased as Husbands Found. Here she met Peter and they hit it off. They married on May 30th 1959 in the South Kensington registry office in London.

Following an advertisement by the government of Canada in a Local paper to come to Canada with a view to citizenship, they applied and were accepted. They arrived in Vancouver 1960 initially staying with Peggy’s cousin.

Moving almost immediately to North Vancouver, they have been here since. Peggy’s employment was primarily at shipbuilding and marine electric companies, and she enjoyed friendship and camaraderie through activities at NVRC and Silver Harbour.

She is survived by husband Peter, daughter Kate (Rob), and grandsons Ryan and Eric.

Thanks to the staff at Evergreen House, Lions Gate Hospital, and the VCH Home Care team for their care and kindness to Peggy.

No funeral by request. In lieu of flowers a donation to BC Women’s and Children’s Hospital or the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation may be made.

Condolences may be sent via First Memorial at www.firstmemorialnorthvancouver.com
